Ridesharing arrives in Buffalo June 29th and the City is making it easy to start driving for Lyft, one of the fastest growing transportation network companies in the country.
Mayor Byron W. Brown recently announced a job fair for Lyft drivers.
“Lyft and other ride-sharing services are an important component of a diverse and robust transportation system that increases options for all people, while also offering an innovative platform to those who wish to make extra money by using their cars to give rides to others within the city safely and conveniently.”
Lyft co-founder: We’re moving fast
“Recently we hit over a million unique passengers every week. We hit a billion dollar run rate in October of last year and raised a billion dollars. We’re moving quite fast,” its co-founder John Zimmer recently told CNBC.
“We’re the fastest growing ride-share company in the United States right now,” he added.
The San Francisco based company is expanding to 150 new cities in 2017 and saw a 135% increase in gross ride bookings in April.
Zimmer said that quality of service pushes his company ahead of its competition, if price and estimated time of arrival of drivers are comparable between on-demand car services.
“We treat people better than competition. So whether that’s drivers or passengers, that goes into the car experience,” said Zimmer. “That’s why more and more people are choosing Lyft.”
The job fair takes place on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Buffalo Employment & Training Center (BETC), located at 77 Goodell Street in Buffalo.
